Objectives:
The science teachers will understand the potential for using both audio and video podcasts in the classroom and will be able to show this understanding by sharing examples of when the use of podcasts can enhance science instruction.
The science teachers will be expected to understand how to create and share screen casts with students that will enhance their understanding of the content.
The science teachers will create at least one podcast, video podcast or screen cast that can be used in their science classrooms.

The presenter will then share some research about using podcasts in science and how it could benefit students. The presenter will have the teachers help create an audio podcast for science vocabulary using audacity.
The whole group will then create a video podcast on YouTube, a basic script and props will be provided for the teachers.
Finally, the class will discuss screen casts they have seen or used and how they think screen casts could benefit their students. The class will then view a screen cast on how to make a screen cast on the free website screencastomatic.com. An example of the screen cast is available here.
At the conclusion of the class, each class member will be asked to choose one of the three programs shared above and create a presentation that they can use with their students which will be saved to their wiki created on day one.
